POLICE FUNERAL SERVICE
Twenty-six police in uniform attended the funeral yesterday of Constable A. V. Smith, who had been in charge of the Cheviot Police Station for 14 years. Senior-Sergeant J. J. Kearns was in charge of the police party, six of whom acted as pallbearers at the house and at the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, where Requiem Mass was celebrated. Superintendent T. E. Holmes and members of the detective staff also attended the funeral.
Representatives of the Returned Services’ Association attended the burial service and cast poppies on the grave.
