PROGRAMME FOR BEAUMARIS

WILL PROBABLY STAY IN NEW ZEALAND

Although no final decision has yet been made, Beaumaris will probably remain in New Zealand for his racing next season. If he does his main mission will be the £lO,OOO New Zealand Cup in November. Beaumaris was nominated for the MelBournd Cup and was installed as first favourite for the race in the first charts issued by Australian bookmakers.

The champion’s owner-trainer, Mr J. S. Shaw, said yesterday that Beaumaris might have his next race at the Grand National meeting. If not, the Harcourt Stakes at the Wellington spring meeting would probably be his first race of the season if he was not taken to Australia.

Beaumaris has not raced since he won the Great Northern St. Leger at Ellerslie on April 10, that win advancing his stake earnings for the season to £15,881, easily a record for one season.,

For some weeks Beaumaris has been exercised on four or five days a week to keep his muscles tuned up and to stop him from putting on too much condition. He looks a picture.
