TASMAN CUP GOLF
N.Z. TEAM LOSES ON COUNT BACK

The New Zealand women golfers were defeated by two holes on the count back for the Tasman Cup after a tie in the matches against Australia. In the foursomes which opened the series Australia and New Zealand each won one match, and in the four singles after lunch Australia won two and New Zealand two. The event was then to be decided on the count back of holes won. Australia obtained 11 to New Zealand’s nine.
The New Zealand golfers gave a solid display in all their games. Miss Zoe Hudson and Miss R. C. Hodges went down 3 and 2 to the New South Wales pair. Misses H. Stockman and N. George, in one foursome, but Mrs Jackson Ball and Miss M. Hughes beat Mrs K. Hauritz (Brisbane) and Miss J. Wellard (Victorian junior champion) 2 and 1. In the singles in the afternoon Miss Zoe Hudson beat Miss Stockman 4 and 3 Miss Hughes beat Miss George 3 and 1, Mrs H. A. Murray was beaten 5 and 4 by Miss D. Boully (S.A.). and Miss . x. Hughes was beaten 3 and 1 by Miss Wellard. Australia won the cup last year and consequently retains it.
