Commons Told Of U.S. Decision LONDON, June 27. The Prime Minister (Mr Attlee) announced in the House of Commons tonight that Britain would support the United States resolution before the Security Council. Mr Attlee read President Truman’s statement on Korea, and said that the United Kingdom representative would support the American resolution, which would recommend that members of the United Nations should furnish such assistance to the Republic of Korea as may be necessary to repel an attack.

The House cheered Mr Attlee when he finished reading the text of Mr Truman’s announcement.

He told a hushed House that after the bitter experience of the last 35 years, salvation was dependent on prompt and effective measures to resist aggression, wherever it might occur.

He also announced that in view of the undoubted gravity of the situation the new British representative on the Security Council (Sir Gladwyn Jebb) would fly to America immediately to take up his post. Whole House United

Mr Churchill thanked the Prime Minister “for making us acquainted | with those grave matters.” and ex- , pressed the "sense of unity which dominates the whole House when ; questions of this gravity seem to touch | the principles of freedom and law for wlvch we stand.”

The Liberal Leader (Mr Clement Davies) said he re-echoed this. Earlier Mr Attlee had told the House: "The scale and intensity of the attack in Korea leaves no doubt that this is a full-scale invasion.”

Mr Attlee had a private talk on the Korean position with Mr Churchill and his deputy (Mr R. A. Eden) in the House of Commons to-day. The Cabinet also discussed the matter, but no service chiefs attended the Cabinet meeting.
