HEAVY INDUSTRIES IN EUROPE
French Proposal For Integration
ATTITUDE OF BRITAIN (N.Z Pres* Association—Copyright) (Rec. 8 p.m.) LONDON, May 29. The diplomatic correspondent of the “Daily Telegraph” says that progress on the plan of the French Foreign Minister (Mr Robert Schuman) for the integration of European heavy industry is being held up by differences between Britain and Fiance on the best way to start. Britain told France on May 27 that she could not commit herself to the plan without knowing in detail what kind of plan it would be. Britain approves the plan both for French and German union, and for wider integration, but considers it only reasonable that she should know what sacrifices might be demanded of her before she commits herself to join in.
