Sir, —For maintaining timber supplies a Forestry Department was established in 1920, which now costs £1,000,000 a year; and users pay 10 times the price for timber that their fathers paid and 20 times the price their grandfathers paid, and possibly get poorer quality.—Yours, etc., ALF.
