RUGBY FOOTBALL

CANTERBURY TEAM CHOSEN MATCH AGAINST BRITISH ISLES The Canterbury Rugby team to play the British Isles at Christchurch on June 3 was announced by the selectors (Messrs J. G. Rankin and L. Johnston) yesterday. The oldest, and one of the two heaviest members of the team is D. H. Herman. G. N. Dalzell, with 15st 81b, is the heaviest of the forwards. The average weight of the team is 12st 71b. The back line is a comparatively young one, the average age being just over 21 years. Youngest member of the team is tfye Christchurch Club player, J. Houghton, who is 19J. The average age of the team is 24. In spite, of the experience L. T. Savage gained with the 1949 All Blacks, his form in club matches this year has not been impressive, and his selection as half-back over the High School Old Boys' player and captain of Canterbury teams last year, P.
