COMMISSION ON MAORI LANDS
SITTINGS ADJOURNED UNTIL JULY (New Zealand Press Association} WANGANUI. May 26. After sitting for 10 days hearing evidence of submissions on problems connected with leases of Maori lands vested in the Land Board at Wanganui, the Royal Commission on Maori Lands adjourned yesterday with a statement from the chairman, Judge Dalglish, that it would sit in Whangarei “sometime in July.” After that the commission will hold sittings at Te Kuiti, Rotorua, and Waipukurau to gather further evidence. Because of the time that would elapse before the commission's report was made to the Governor-General (Sir Bernard Freyberg), Judge Dalglish undertook to arrange for the announcement of interim extensions of leases about to expire at the end of this month, or any time in the next 12 months.
