TOP-DRESSING BY AIR
FLEET OF HEAVY CRAFT WANTED FARMERS URGE RELEASE OF £2,000,000 '"The Press” Special Service WANGANUI, May 24. Two million pounds should be lifted from the Meat Pool to purchase a fleet of heavy aircraft suitable for aerial top-dressing, in the opinion of the Wanganui provincial executive of Federated Farmers. A remit passed at the monthly meeting of the. executive to-day recommended this move to the Government. Frequent reference was made at the meeting to a recommendation from an officer on loan from the R.A.F. that 12-ton machines should be purchased. Mr F. K. Pearce moved a remit to this effect, and Mr R. S. Lilburne seconded it. An amendment that £2,000.000 should be granted “to subsidise aerial top-dressing to farmers and to finance companies interested in this work io acquire suitable aircraft,” was defeated.
