CZECH NOTE TO U.S.
TEXT REJECTED AS “ OFFENSIVE ”
(Rec. 9 p.m.) WASHINGTON, May 24 The United States to-day rejected as offensive a resolution of the Czechoslovak National Assembly calling on the Western Powers to reverse their “Imperialist” policies.
The resolution was presented to the State Department on April 27 with a request that it be transmitted to Congress. The State Department, after consulting the leaders of the Senate and House Foreign Relations Committees, returned the Note with the comment: “The United States Government is completely unable to un terstand how one Government uttering professions of peace could send to another Government an official communication so inconsistent with mutual understanding and normal relations between nations.
“It is obvious this resolution, far from making a contribution to peace, increases the difficulty of developing international amity.”
