ARMED POLICE FORCE IN EAST GERMANY
Britain, France, and U.S. Protest to Moscow RISE OF ANOTHER WEHRMACHT SEEN (Rec. 9 p.m.) LONDON, May 24. “The armed police force of the Russian Zone of Germany threatens more a revival of German militarism than any military action against the West Zone of Germany or West-held Berlin,” says a leading article in the “Daily Telegraph,” commenting on the Notes of protest to Russia bv Britain, France and the United States. “The fact that Russia has so rapidly raised an armed force of 50.000 suggests that we have only seen the beginning of & new Wehrmacht. “The system of para-military police is as essential to the Communist regime as to its Nazi counterpart, and draws upon the same instincts and personnel. “The Russians have for months violated undertakings not merely to destroy Nazism, but German militarism.”
The three Notes were delivered in Moscow yesterdav by the Ambassadors of the protesting Powers.
