Pursuant to Section 62 of the Land Drainage Act, 1908, and its amendments and to Clause 401 of the Board’s Bylaws, owners and occuoiers of lands in the Ashburton-Hinds Drainage District are required to thoroughly clean all drains in their property or on their road frontages. The term “thoroughly” means removal of weeds, silt or shingle, to maintain the drainage channels to the section constructed by the Board. Such work shall be completed by June 15, 1950. Ratepayers are advised that this system of Maintenance must be considered as being on trial and their response to this notice will influence the Board in defining its future policy for maintenance of these drains.
