GUN DOG TRIALS
CANTERBURY CLUB OPENS SEASON The opening day of the Canterbury Gun Dog Club was held recently at the Styx bridge, Brooklands. Large entries were received for all classes. ’ A feature of the day was the double win of Miss Rhona Dickson, aged 12, in the puppy classes. Trophies were presented by the president (Mr C. J. Sowden), who judged the open and limit classes. Mr A. E. Meyer judged the other classes. The following were the results:— Open Class.—O. Hartley-Smith’fc English springer spaniel (173 points) 1, M. P. Leathem’s English springer spaniel (168) 2, R. J. Ayson’s English springer spaniel (166) 3. Limit Class.—A. Marker’s yellow Labrador (169) 1, R. C. Day's yellow Labrador (162) 2, A. E. Sec Ker's English springer spaniel (155) 3.
Novice Class.—Water: H. Cox’s Labrador (93) 1, Mrs C. M. Cooper’s English springer spaniel (87) 2, C. L. Dickson’s Labrador (86) 3. Land: P. Poulton’s English springer spaniel and B. Ayson’s English springer-spaniel (93), equal, 1; H Cox’s Labrador (92) 3. In the run-off. P. Poulton was placed first . Puppy Class.—Water: Miss Bhona Dickson’s T-abrador (83) 1, O. Hartlev-Smith’s English springer spaniel and B. Avson’s English springer spaniel (81). equal, 2. Land: Miss Rhona Dickson’s Labrador (90) 1, B. Ayson’s English springer spahiel (89) 2. R. C. Dav’s vellow Labrador (77) 3.
