MCDONALD CUP MATCH (New Zealand Press Association) • ..WELLINGTON, March o. The annual cricket match for the McDonald Cup between the Auckland and Wellington telegraph offices, played at Kilbirnie, resulted in a win for Wellington on the first innings. The game was played in perfect weather and on a fast wicket. Wellington, winning the toss, batted first and had scored 201 by 3.30 p.m. Auckland replied briskly -vith thiee wickets for 104 at stumps. Auckland continued confidently next day until Fluery retired, after being hurt by a rising ball. Thereafter Auckland’s Latting iost its aggressiveness in the face of the accurate bowling of Currie ard Tringharn— the last five wickets falling for three runs. Auckland was all out at luncheon on tne second day for 169 Wellington in the c:coid innings batted steadily, but after the first wicket fell at 50, the second also fell at 50, and the third and fourth at 55. Wellington stonewalled dourly, and the game ended with Wellington four down for 106.
