RUSSIA BLAMES WEST FOR DELAY LONDON, March 5. Russia, in a Note to Austria, blamed the Western Powers for the delay in .concluding the Austrian peace treaty. Russia was replying to an Austrian Note on February 10, complaining that Russia was holding up the treaty discussions. “That is not true,” the Russian Note said. It added: “In actual fact, the Soviet representatives more than once proposed that the articles of the draft treaty not yet agreed upon should be discussed, but the representatives of the Western Powers systematically turned down this proposal, evidently not being interested in the early conclusion of a treaty with Austria.”

FORMER NAZI TO OWN NEWSPAPER

CRUSHED PLOT AGAINST HITLER BERLIN, March 5. Mr Otto Remer, who crushed the 1944 bomb plot against Hitler, will begin publishing his own newspaper at Luneburg next month. Hitler personally promoted Remer from major to major-general for his action against the plotters. SAID TO HAVE BEEN MURDERED (Rec. 7 p.m.) PRAGUE, March 5. The Communist newspaper, “Pravda.” published in Bratislava, reported to-day that a leading Slovak Communist Party official, Mr Izidor Tausinger, was “foully murdered while at work” in Bratislava last Friday.
