Pursuant to the provision of Clause 12 of the Second Schedule of the Tramways Act, 1908, and of Section 2 of the Christchurch Tramway District Amendment Act, 1926, as amended by the Christchurch Tramway District Amendment Act, 1932-33, Public Notice is hereby given that it is the intention of the Christchurch Tramway Board to apply for an Order-in Council authorising it to remove the tramlines described below and to discontinue running services by tramcars thereon. Within four weeks after the first publication of this notice, any number of persons, being not less than 5 per centum of the Ratepayers whose names are inscribed in the Ratepayers* Roll of the Christchurch Tramway District, may by writing addressed to the Christchurch Tramway Board demand that the question whether or not such Order should be applied for shall be submitted to the decision of the Ratepayers by poll to be taken within four months of the delivery of such demand. The tram tracks pre-posed to be removed are:—Route No. 9. Fendalton Line: From the intersection of Papanui road and Bealey avenue at the point indicated on the Plan L3I2A, along Bealey avenue, Carlton Mill road. Rhodes street, Hassall street, Holmwood road. Fendalton road, and Burnside road to the Terminus In Burnside road, a distance of 2 miles 12.88 chains more or less as particularly shown on Plan L3I2A. And Route No. 13, Opawa Line: From- the junction of Colombo street and Wordsworth street, at the p int indicated on the Plan L322A, along Wordsworth street, Waltham road, Shakespeare road, and Opawa road to the Terminus at Heathcote Bridge, a distance of 1 mile 60 chains more or less as more particularly shown on Plan L322A. Plans of the tramway tracks to be re'/.loved, together with a draft of the Order-in-Council to be submitted to the Governor-General for approval, are open for inspection at the Office of the Board.
