ANNUAL AWARDS MADE

WOOLSTON HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY

There was a large increase in the entries for the annual competitions of the Woolston Horticultural Society. The judging took place Mast Saturday.

The Dix Challenge Cup for private gardens was won by Mrs W. Bisset, 41 Clarendon terrace. V. A. Toomey, 96 Tilford street, was second, and D. Foster, 55 Dampier street, third. The State House Challenge Cup was won by H. Ste venton, 591 Ferry road, with Mrs S. D. Nielson, 14 Dyers road, second, and Mrs W. Britt, 33 Riley crescent, third.

Awards of merit were made as fol-lows:—-vegetables, Mrs Mackie; fruit trees, T. Carrol; trees and shrubs, Mrs W. Bisset; cultivation, W. J. Gallagher; lawns, D. Foster; design and harmony, Mrs Bisset; flowers, V. A. Toomey.
