MAKING HER HOME IN N.Z.
ENGLISH WIDOW’S RETURN
Mrs D. C. Trousdale and' her two children arrived in Auckland., by the Tamaroa on Saturday to make their home in New Zealand after being in England for 18 months. She is English by birth. She married a New Zealander, Wing Commander Trousdale and came to the Dominion in 1945. Two and a half years ago her husband was killed and she decided to go back to England. “We have come back to; make our home here,*' said Mrs "-Trousdale. “Food, climate, and education are just some of the things which are better here, especially for my children.” The children, Diana, aged eight, and Charles, aged five, would feel more “at home” in New Zealand schools. Mrs Trousdale said the English schools were crowded and the buildings small. The war had held up building programmes and there were not the modem facilities that could be found in New Zealand schools.
Another deciding factor in their return to this country was the high cost of living in England. Mrs Trousdale, who was an officer in the W.A.A.F. during the war, spent her time in England with her family in Yorkshire.
