AUSTRALIAN TITLE MEETING (Rec. 10 p.m.) ADELAIDE, Jan. 2. Three Australian records, several South Australian records, and one Australian residential record were bettered, or equalled, on the first day of the Australian athletic championships at the Adelaide Oval. New South Wales athletes dominated the events, and are leading from Victoria iii the contest for the Coombes Aggregate Shield. In 10 events, the holders of six Australian titles were beaten. E. Carr ran with a badly bruised heel to equal Curotta’s 440 yards residential record of 47.6 seconds and retain his title. J. Treloar retained the 100 yards title in 10 seconds. In the two-mile walk, D. Keane recorded 13 minutes 43.5 seconds, breaking the Australian record by 11.5 sec-, ends and beating the title-holder. A. Stubbs. In the mile run, D. McMillan put up a new Australian residential record of 4 minutes 15.8 seconds. In the javelin throw, L. McKeand achieved a new distance of 194 feet 11.52 inches.
