JAPANESE PEACE TREATY

WARNING BY MR YOSHIDA “CANNOT HAVE MUCH SAY ” TOKYO. November 23. “A peace treaty disregarding the wishes of the Japanese people is unthinkable because such a treaty is bound once more to disturb world order,” the Prime Minister (Mr Shigeru Yoshida) to-day told the House of Representatives Budget Committee. Mi Yoshida warned that Japan, having surrendered uncondU tionally, was in no position to have “much say” regarding the treaty. He told questioners that there was no room for petitioning the Allied Powers for the acceptance of some of Japan’s wishes in the peace treaty. The United States definitely said that japan had no right to make demands on the Allies. Japan had no choice tut to accept either a separate or an overall peace treaty drawn up by the Far Eastern Commission or any other agencies, said Mr Yoshida.
