ALTERATIONS TO RULES Advice that some important alterations had been made in the rules governing h ater Pol°, was received by the Canterbury Water Polo Committee from the New Zealand Council last evening. The new ryles, which come into force next Tuesday, alter the game in the following major points: (1) the game is extended to consist of 15 minutes in each half; and (2) it is no longer a foul to move after the referee has blown his whistle. The on!y player to stay still is the person taking the free throw.

Trial Teams The selectors (Messrs G. R. Laurie, L Donaldson, and W. H. Dyson) announced the following players to take part in a further trial match to be played in conjunction with the Canterbury swimming championships on Tuesday: Probables, W D Y son ’ T - Berryman, C. Competition Matches The Canterbury Swimming Centre’s water polo competitions, which were continued at the Tepid Baths last evening, resulted:— 8 ’

Senior: East Christchurch beat Somerfield, 6-0; Spreydon A beat Spreydon B, 7-!; Christchurch beat Wigram, 5-0. •Tumor: East Christchurch beat Elmwood B, 7-0; Elmwood A beat Spreydon, 6-0; Christchurch beat Somerfield. 3-1.
