RECORD ATLANTIC FLIGHT
(Rec. 7 p.m.) LONDON, November 6. A Pan American Stratocruiser to-day arrived in London from New York in 9 hours 12 minutes, knocking 9 minutes off the record set yesterday by another Pan American Clipper, the Mayflower.
The Stratocruiser carried 21 passengers and a crew of 10. It travelled the Great Circle route of 3500 miles at 20,000 feet. The Mayflower carried 45 passengers. Sheffield Shield Cricket—New South Wales appears likely to score an outright win against Western Australia in their Sheffield Shield cricket match. At the end of the third day’s play Western Australia, with four wickets in hand, required 139 runs to win. On a pitch showing wear, the Western Australians will find it difficult to get the runs. New South Wales, in its second innings, made 270 (Yeates 93. de Courcy 47; Puckett took five wickets for 95, Edwards two for 18). Western Australia’s score in the second innings was 144 for six wickets (Edwards 53. Rigg 33 not out: F. Johnston took four wickets for 54.—Sydney, November 7.
