TREATMENT OF TEXTILES
NEW FINISHING AND DYEING PROCESS USE OF RADIO-ACTIVE SOURCE MATERIALS (Rec. 8 p.m.) NEW YORK, November 6. A new textile dyeing and finishing process had been developed through what was believed to be the first successful use of radio-active source materials in industrial production, the “New York Herald Tribune” said today. Tlie process promised to revolutionise the handling of all types of textile fabrics. The process had been developed by a company working under licence from the United States Atomic Energy Commission. Through the use of a new compound manufactured from radio-active source materials, a method had been developed which permitted the use of photo-chemistry for the first time in the dyeing and finishing of all types of textiles. The method was applied through a radical type of equipment which not only required far less space and less manpower than normal finishing plants, but in a single operation dyed, finished, and dried the fabric at high speed.
