MARCH-PAST IN RED SQUARE

MARSHAL VASILEVSKY REVIEWS TROOPS

ADVANTAGES CLAIMED FOR SOVIET REGIME (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright)

(Rec. 11.40 p.m.) MOSCOW, Nov. 7. “Marshal Vasilevsky, the Russian Minister of the Armed Forces, .to-day reviewed a march-past of troops in Red Square in celebration of the thirty-second anniversary the Russian Revolution,” says the British United Press. “General Vassili Stalin, Mr Stalin’s son, commanded a squadron of fighters that led a fly-past above the troops. “Marshal Vasilevsky, speaking after the march, said: ‘The advantages of the Soviet social ♦regime compared with the capitalist regime are being more and more convincingly shown. Under capitalism, industrial production is again being reduced, the standard of living of great masses of the people is being iharply lowered, and irreconcilable economic and political contradictions are growing and becoming more and more acute. “ ‘The imperialists seek to solve these problems by a further attack on the living rights of the working people, by enslaving and putting into bondage freedom-loving peoples by a policy of aggression, and by unleashing a new war.’ ”

In an order of the day issued yesterday to mark the anniversary, Marshal Vasilevsky called on all Soviet servicemen to improve their prowess in the forthcoming winter season of military training. Marshal Vasilevsky said that in the summer training the Soviet soldiers had “increased their military and political knowledge and heightened their combat steadfastness and endurance.”
