TIBETAN DESIRE FOR NEUTRALITY
MESSAGE FROM REGENT LONDON, November 6. Hope for Tibet’s neutrality is expressed by the Regent of Tibet (Takdhag Pandit Hothoku) in an exclusive message to the United Press in London. The Regent’s statement was made six weeks after the Chinese Communists had announced their intention of “liberating” Tibet. The Regent discharges the temporal functions of the 14-year-old Dalai Lama, who gave his blessing to the Regent’s message, which was also apP r gy ed by his Ecclesiastical Cabinet. The Regent said: “Tibet is an independent country, having a spiritual as well as a temporal administration, and vl people are leading a religious life. Tibet has not as much military experience as other nations, and we have no enmity with our neighbouring countries. We are a neutral country. Therefore, I hope that all nations will help us. “Our policy is to have faith in God and so we desire to remain as before.”
