N.Z. ARTIST APPOINTED CURATOR

(Rec. 8 p.m.) PERTH. November 6. . Mr James Cook, a prominent artist in New Zealand and New South Wales, has been appointed curator of the Perth Art Gallery. Mr Cook, who won the Perth Art Gallery’s competition last year, is at present on a painting tour of his homeland. New Zealand. He was an official war artist, and served with the Australian forces in New Guinea.

Mr Cook began his training at the Canterbury University College School of Art. In 1925 he won the first travelling art scholarship awarded in New » Zealand, and spent the next four yean overseas.
