SPRINT TO GENERAL MENTEITH

(New Zealand Association.) Auckland, Nov. 6. The Auckland Racing Club’s mid-spring meeting was commenced on Saturday in warm, overcast weather. Rain set in after the fourth race, and the track, which was good at the outset, became heavy towards the end of the day. The attendance was 18,000, compared with 19,500 last year. The totalisator handled £141,321 10s, compared with £168,066 10s last year. Patio, Calibrate, Jamboree, and General Menteith paid double-figure win dividends. After the running of the Cambria Handicap, Mr L. Haworth, owner of Personage, which finished second in the second division, entered a protest against the winner, Correspond, on the grounds of interference.
