CHRISTCHURCH SPEEDWAY

ONE RECORD BROKEN The most improved rider of this season at the Aranui speedway is undoubtedly G. Mardon. He rode spectacularly on Saturday evening, and was narrowly beaten into second place in the final of the big event on the programme, the Four Points race. A. G. Holland also rode purposeful races. In a heat of the Four Points race (which he won), his unspectacular but methodical style took one-fifth of a second off the four-lap clutch start record, previously held by G. Mudgway, of AuckT. Redmond’s attempt to break the fourlap .flying start record failed by twofifths of a second. Guests of honour were Mr A. R. Cutler, V.C., High Commissioner for Australia in New Zealand, and Mrs Cutler. Results:—
