EVENTIDE HOMES SCHEME

(New Zealand Press Association.) NAPIER, November 5.

Plans for the establishment of an eventide homes settlement at Taita, Lower Hutt, were approved and commended by the annual conference of the Methodist Church of New Zealand last night. The settlement has been made possible by the gift of 150 acres by Mr and Mrs W. T. Strand for that purpose. The Wesley Church (Wellirigton) Social Service Trust was set up to establish the settlement, a»d will build a series of independent units for elderly couples on the site as finance becomes available. The Rev. W. H. Greenslade (Wellington), who presented the report on the subject, said the finance for three homes was already in hand. A Government subsidy would be granted on the capital expenditure on the project.
