PROGRAMME FOR COUNTRY WEEK
Six country teams and two from Christchurch will play matches at Hagley Oval on Wednesday and Thursday of this week, the Canterbury Cricket Association’s annual Country Week. From country players taking part in these matches two teams will be chosen to play on Friday two strong Canterbury teams to be chosen by the Canterbury selectors.
The draw for the first day is:—South Canterbury v. North Canterbury; Ashburton v. Suburban Association; Banks Peninsula v. Malyern; Ellesmere v. C.C.A. team. The draw for the second day will be announced at the conclusion of the first day's play. The C.C.A. team is being entered to avoid the bye. Play will start each day at 10.30 a.m.
The selectors for the two country teams for the final day are:—Dr. K. F. M. Uttley (South Canterbury), Messrs T. B. Morten (Banks Peninsula), and R. R. Bennett (North Canterbury).
The North Canterbury team, as announced by the sole selector (Mr H. R. Escott), is as follows:—L. Southen, J. Cunningham, B. Cobden, R. Sincock, R. R. Bennett, G. Gardiner, R. Green, J. Smith, C. Merrin, R. Fear. J. Willan, I. Giles.
