Mrs A. E. G. Lyttle was unanimously re-elected director at the annual meeting of the Canterbury Women’s Club Garden Circle yesterday afttafcnoon. The programme included items by Miss Julie Clarke. M ss Jovce Tibbles, and* Mr Arnold Galvin. Mr J. Boughen led the community singing and Mrs Madge Brown was the accompanist.

The annual reunion of the St. Margaret’s College Old Girls Association will begin with a tennis match between former and present pupils of the college who will compete for the Petty Thomas Shield to-day. On Sunday old girls will attend evensong in the Christchurch Cathedral, and on Monday more than 150 old girls are expected to attend the annual meeting and dinner to be held at the Takahe.

Miss S. Britton presided at a recent meeting of the committee of the women’s section of the Christchurch Returned Services’ Association. ' Arrangements were made for the holding of a children’s fancy dress party and for a “Christmas stall’’ in the Square in aid of the section’s funds. It was also decided to hold an evening social to raise funds for Christmas cheer for soldiers in hospital. Members agreed to collect on Rose Day. One new member was initiated and another baby was placed on the cradle roll at a meeting of the New Brighton branch of the Women’s Christian Temperance Union. The first summer meeting of the Band of Hope was held in the Baptist Hall, North Beach. To celebrate 25 years of temperance work in the district axfilm evening was given by Mr t Thomas, of Christchurch. Commemorative fcards were presented to Mesdames Pennerell, DantCfls. Aston, and Goring. The superintendent (Mrs Noonan) presided. Those who took part jn a musical programme during the evening were Mesdames Daniels, Hoffman. Careinaton, Misses Kay McKerns. Pauline Daniels. Wendv Daniels. and a group of Band of Hope girls.

A total membership of 2050 in the 85 branches was reported at the annual meeting of the Ney Zealand Baptist Women’s' Missionary Union, which was held in Auckland this week.
