The High Commissioner for the United Kingdom (Mr C. R. Price) and Mrs Price will leave Wellington on Monday for engagements in Auckland. —(P.A.)
Mr D. C. Milne, who was formerly engineer to the Greymouth Harbour Board and for some years has been employed by the Manchester Ship Canal company, has been appointed chief engineer to the company. Major L. E. Robinson, of the New Zealand Provost Corps, has been appointed officer commanding a detachment of the Provost Company, Southern Military District. He served during the war as a.provost officer., with the Bth Armoured Brigade in North Africa, and also served as DeputyAssistant Provost Marshal at Maadi, at an advanced base in Italy, and at the New Zealand reception depot, in England.
Mr E. W. G. Thorpe, who has been child welfare officer in Dunedin for the last five years, has been appointed chief welfare officer for New Zealand, with headquarters in Wellington. He will be succeeded at Dunedin by Mr H. Donaldson, chief welfare officer at Hamilton.
