NO ELECTION THIS YEAR
Official Advice From Downing Street (Rec. 1.30 a.m.) LONDON, Oct. 13. It is officially announced from No. 10 Downing Street that there will be no General Election in Britain this year. The announcement said: “Having regard to the disturbing effects on trade and industry and on the national effort by a continuance of speculations as to an early election, the Prime Minister (Mr Attlee) thinks it right to inform the country of his decision not to advise His Majesty to dissolve Parliament this year.”
