SECOND LICENCE GRANTED “There have been several hearing relating to applications for an addi tional taxi licence in Kaiapoi. and cer tain inquiries have been made by th Transport Department,” Laid the No 3 Transport Licensing Authority <M C L. Bishop) in a reserved decisioi on an application l.y Albert William] Cosgrove, of Kaiapoi. for an J.dditiona taxi licence with one private hire cal authority. Mr J. S. Haywood appear* for Cosgrove, and Mr R. A. Young ap peered for A. H. Burgess, who oppose the application. “A previous application from Cosgrove was heard on July 15. 1949 h a result of the hearing certain unsatis factory features have been confirmed by the present hearing, and furthu evidence has been forthcoming." After reviewing the evidence, th authority said: “In my opinion th operation of the taxi service b’ Burgess showed many unsatisfactory features, and I find it difficult to plact a great deal of reliance upon ccrtair of the evidence tendered on his behalf. It does appear to me that th rsidents of the district are entitled tc a further taxi in order that their nee® be efficiently and properly met." i The application was granted.
