MAIN ROLLS IN CHRISTCHURCH
BIG INCREASE IN SELWYN AND AVON
Two of the main rolls for the Parliamentary election this year in electorates in and around Christchurch show substantial increases on the effective roll for the last General Election in 1946. They are Selwyn, which has 15,548 names on the roll, compared with an effective roll in 1946 of 14,463. and Avon, where 15,852 names are on the roll, compared with 14.986. The effective roll in 1£46 was the main roll and supplementary rolls. The figures for the eight electorates were announced yesterday by the Registrar of Electors (Mr A. A. Besley) as follows:
five districts had been received from the primers. Early next week all the rolls would be sent to Post Offices and the offices of local authorities for public inspection. Any person who found that his or her name was not on the main roll should apply immediately for enrolment on the supplementary rolls unless he or she had already done so. The supplementary rolls would probably close about the first week in November.
