CHAMBER MUSIC SOCIETY

INAUGURAL MEETING

The inaugural meeting of the Christchurch Chamber Music Society was held last evening, when the constitution drawn up by an interim committee some weeks ago was presented. Mr A. M. Hollander presided. The constitution was adopted with an additional clause to empower the committee to admit to full membership at a reduced fee a number of junior members (under 18).

A gift of three volumes of sonatas by Henry Purcell was received by the society from Mrs F. E. Owers. The following officers were elected:—chairman, Mr J. F. Skedden; treasurer. Mr Neville Vincent; secretary. Mr Lloyd Hunter: committee. Miss Betty Hannam. Dr. Vernon Griffiths, Messrs M. T. Dixon, A. M. Hollander, and Charles Martin.
