Wellington, and dealing with the 20 hours following the time of issue, is as follows: Situation: there is a depression east of the North Island, and a ridge of high pressure over central New Zealand. A cold front is advancing across the south Tasman Sea. Forecast to 5 p.m.: moderate to fresh north-east-erly winds predominating. Some clouds’ areas in the early morning, otherwise weather fair to fine. Temperatures moderate to mild. WEST COAST The forecast for the West Coast of the South Island is:— Moderate variable winds. Weather cloudy, with scattered rain developing from the south. Temperatures moderate. CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER The weather in Christchurch yesterday was fine .and sunny with, a maximum temperature of 56 degrees. There was a moderate north-east wind.
