RAILWAX MEN IN BRITAIN
BOARD’S FINDINGS ACCEPTED LONDON. September 30. Delegates representing more than 400,000 members of the National Union of Railwaymen to-day accepted the findings of the Conciliation Board which rejected the union’s claim for an increase of 10s a week for all railwaymen. The resolution passed at the special general meeting of the union said: "Having considered the findings of the Conciliation Board we have no alternative but to accept.” The resolution registered an "emphatic protest” against the board’s recommendations which "were contrary to the evidence submitted to the board by the union.” The union secretary (Mr J. B. Figgins) said that the executive committee was instructed immediately to reopen negotiations for wage improvements for lower paid employees.
