LABOUR BRANCH AT FENDALTON
“ UNCONSTITUTIONAL ” AUGUST MEETING
RESIGNATION OF TWO OFFICERS
A ruling that the meeting on August 22 of the Fendalton branch of the Labour Party to discuss a motion of disaffiliation from the party was unconstitutionally convened was given by Mr John Roberts, retiring president of the North Canterbury Labour Representation Committee, at a branch meeting on Monday evening.
The effect of his ruling was that all business done at the August meeting was declared out of order. The branch accepted the resignations of the president (Mr T. H. P. Davey) and the vice-president (Mr F. H. Palethorpe). A special meeting is being called for next Monday to fill the vacant positions. Fourteen new branch members were elected.
