MOTORIST FINED AT GREYMOUTH
FAILURE TO STOP AFTER ACCIDENT From Oui Own Reporter GREYMOUTH, September 6. George Thomas Leicester Marriott, aged 39, a truck driver, of Chaneys, appeared in the Magistrate's Court at Greymouth yesterday before Mr Rex. C. Abernethy, S.M., on a charge of failing to stop after being involved in an accident at Camerons on July 1 last. Counsel said that Marriott, during the war, had beeia a driver for the Governor-General, Sir Bernard Freyberg. and for the senior chaplain of the New Zealand Forces. "This is not a very good type of case, said the Magistrate in fining Marriott £B. Charges of negligent driving and failing to stop when signalled by a constable were withdrawn by the police.
