IMPORTS OF N.Z. GOODS

RUSSIA OUTBIDDING CANADA LONDON (Ontario), August 8. Russia and some other .countries were outbidding Canada for New Zealand goods, the Canadian Trade Commissioner to New Zealand (Mr P. B. McLane) said in an interview to-day. Mr McLane met industrialists to discuss Canadian trade with New Zealand, the Fiji Islands, and Samoa. He said that in New Zealand, Fiji, and Samoa the dollar Shortage had limited the once lush trade in Cana-dian-manufactured goods to essentials unobtainable in the sterling area. The higher prices offered by Russia and other countries, for New Zealand’s Wool, hides, and other products had prevented New Zealand, Fiji, and Samoa from increasing their Canadian dollar holdings.
