BRITISH TEAM’S VISIT

TWO CHRISTCHURCH GAMES POSSIBLE The itinerary for the British team’s visit to New Zealand next year had been prepared in Wellington, and he had reason to believe that two games would be played in Christchurch, said the president (Mr V. L. Jensen) at a meeting of the management committee of the Canterbury Rugby Union last evening. Mr N. Gunderson said that he had difficulty in obtaining hotel accommodation for the visit of the Australian team, and in view of the many attractions in Christchurch in 1950, it would be advisable to book a year ahead for the British team’s visit.

Mr Jensen said that nothing could be done until the itinerary was received from Wellington. Advice was received that the Christchurch Boys’ High School first fifteen will play Otago Boys’ High School at Dunedin on August 19. Mr A. J. Gainsford will be manager. Permission was given for the Canterbury Maori team to play Ellesmere at Leeston on September 3. It was decided to send a cablegram of good wishes to Mr J. H. Parker, manager of the All Black team in South Africa, for the second test.
