SCOTLAND 115 FOR SIX
MATCH AGAINST N.Z. CLOUDY WEATHER FOR SECOND DAY (From ALAN W. MITCHELL, Special Correspondent N.Z.P.A.) (Rec. 2 a.m.) GLASGOW, July 18. The weather was cool and cloudy for the beginning of the second day of the cricket match between Scotland and New Zealand. At lunch, Scotland had made 115 for six wickets, in reply to New Zealand’s first innings total of 423. Scotland's opening batsmen, Willatt and Crosskey, resumed batting against Burtt and Cowie. Burtt, in his second over bowled WiUatt after three runs had been added to Scotland’s first day score of 21. Sheppard, who came in next, was uncomfortable against Burtt, who was making the ball turn appreciably. Crosskey straight-drove Burtt for the first boundary of the morning after 25 minutes’ play. Sheppard became more confident, and hooked Burtt to the square leg boundary, bringing 52 up_ m threequarters of an hour this morning, or 90 minutes altogether. With the score at 57, Crosskey, at 27, was caught at silly mid-off by Wallace off Burtt. Aitchison, the next man in, was none too happy against Burtt. Sheppard appeared to be settling down and was driving well. Aitchison, in attempting a big hit to square leg off Rabone, was well caught on the boundary by Cave.
