COUNCIL TO GO BACK STAGE
OPERATIC SOCIETY’S REQUIREMENTS
The Christchurch Operatic Society has invited members of toe City Council to go back stage in toe Theatre Royal during toe production of “Wild Violets.”
The society would prefer to use “toe j city's own toeatre", but facilities at! toe Civic were unsuitable for toe • show, requiring 40 tons of scenery and ■ 27 stage hands and costing £4009. said ; the letter to toe council. ~
As it was intended, later, to present suggestions for altering the Civic Theatre, the society washed to acquaint councillors with the practical requirements of stage show’s. The chairman of toe entertainments committee <Cr. R G Brown? said this was a golden opportunity to get practical knowledge for discussing toe civic centre scheme.
