AUSTRIAN PEACE TREATY
DR. GRUBER REFERS TO PARIS TALKS 7 .P- m > VIENNA, May 20. The Austrian Foreign Minister (Dr. Karl Gruber) said to-night that if the Big Four Foreign Ministers failed to solve the Austrian problem at their Pans conference, Austria would throw overboard the draft treaty and. if necess&ry, refuse to pay any more occupation costs. In the event of such a failure. Austria would put the matter of the evacuation of the country on the agenda of international conferences and claim the right to set up a federal army. If any’ of the Great Powers refused that request Austria would accuse that Power of an aggressive act.
