HALF-MILE UNIVERSITY TITLE (N.Z. Press Association —Copyright) (Rec. 9 p.m.) LONDON, May 21. The New Zealander, Douglas Harris, easily won the half-mile title at the Universities Athletic Union’s championships, beating Arthur Wint, the 440 metres Olympic titleholder, in the record time of Imin 53.55ec. Harris was having his first title race since he was badly injured during the Olympic Games last year. His time was 3.lsec faster than the record for the rqfe made in 1935. Wint took the lead from a good start and led Harris, by two yards at the quar-ter-mile. Wint held this lead until 150 yards from the finish, when Harris overhauled him. Harris maintained his brilliant burst, beating Wint by 10 yards. Earlier Harris won his heat in 2min 3.4 sec.
