DISPUTE IN BERLIN SHIPYARD
RUSSIAN TROOPS TAKE OVER BERLIN, May 4. Russian troops to-day occupied the Teltow canal shipyards which are partly in the American and partly in the Soviet sector of Berlin. An American spokesman said that the dispute at the yards appeared to concern some persons employed there whom the Russians wanted dismissed. United States officials were trying to straighten out the matter.
Jewish Parade Cancelled.— A military parade which was to have commemorated Israel’s Independence Day was called off at the last minute today because police and soldiers were unable to control the sightseers. Crowds estimated at 300,000 thronged the parade route and blocked the roadway near the saluting base.—Tel Aviv, May 4.
