TRACK WORK AT RICCARTON

ASHBURTON CANDIDATES GALLOP The trial grass at Riccarton yesterday provided fast going. Ashburton candidates to impress m their final gallops were Balkis, Terminate, Disturbance, Revolte, and the two-year-old Bosun. Disturbance, a likely light-weight candidate tor the Tinwald Handicap, galloped freely to record Imin 42sec for a m li e * **? e last half-mile taking 50 2-ssec. Terminate moved away from the mile, and was accompanied over the last six furlongs by Infatuate, the pair finishing practically on terms. Terminate’s mile took Imin 42 2rssec, and the pair ran the last six furlongs in Imin 16 2-ssec, the last four taking 50 4-ssec. Revolte, one of the early favourites for. the Tinwald Handicap, put dash into his gallop over seven furlongs in Imin 30sec, the last four taking 50 3-ssec. Braemorn and Prince Defaulter, which nave no ~ engagements to-morrow, were together after running five furlongs in Imin 3. l-ssec, the last four in 49sec. Rebel Knight and Spring Water covered the same distance in Imin 3 3-ssec, the last four in 49 3-ssec. . Watchword dashed over the last four furlongs of her task in 50sec. Zorro recorded Imin 16 2-ssec for six furlongs, the last four taking 51 3-s Sec. • Balkis appeared to be going better than Kirkella over the final stages of their seven-furlong gallop, which was run in the smart time of Imin 29 2-ssec, the last four* in 50 3-ssec. If the track is firm, Balkis should make a good showing in the Tinwald Handicap at Ashburton. Shere Khan and Sally Gold were on terms after running five furlongs in imin 5 3-ssec, the last four in 50 4-ssec. Valid and All’s Fair ran their six furlongs in Imin 15 3-ssec, the last .four in 50sec. Peridot moved away from the mile and was joined for the last four furlongs by Revelry, which 'finished several lengths in front to record 50sec. Bosun set the main for ‘the morning over four furlongs when he recorded 48sec. Golden Victory and Lost Chord returned 49 3-ssec, .Anytime and Excellent Flight 51 2-ssec, .Mr Speaker and Johnny Peep 1 49 3-ssec, Detention 49 2-ssec, Primitive and Deccan 51sec. Royal Scrip, Boost, and Redweed 50sec, Dissenter 50sec, Kamet 50 l-ssec, Caronia 50 l-ssec, Luminous Knight 49sec, and Supreme Command 50 l-ssec. Jockey Injured A schooling bout by Master Play, Light Tea, and Lunaria was marred when Master Play struck the first fence, the boards, and catapulted his rider, R. G Bradshaw, from the saddle. Bradshaw fell heavily and was sent to hospital by ambulance. After treatment for neck injuries as an out-patient, he was discharged. Light Tea and Lunaria completed a round. Lunaria risked the first of the brush double, but finished on terms with Light Tea. . Sailor Girl was in front of Al-Sirat over the final stages of a found of tha trial hurdles.
