annual meeting held A very strong financial position was revealed in the balance-sheet of the Order of the Sons of Temperance Lodge of New Zealand, presented to the annual conference of the order, held this year in Christchurch. The credit balance was equal to approximately £BO a member, it was stated. Officers elected were: president, Mr A. J- Jarvis: associate'. Mr F. Billcliff; scribe. Mr H. R. Peers; treasurer. Mr 5. J. Bultitude; chaplain. Mr V. Groom; conductor. Mr H. Tomlinson; sentinel, Mr E. Kiddey; trustees, Messrs C. Clements, A. Whisker, and R. Fairweather; auditors. Messrs H. Ewart arid F. Baird; superintendent of juveniles. Mr E. Taylor. The next conference will be held in Christchurch. After the session, members of the national division attended a social function and dance, given in their honour by the Excelsior division.
