Henry Berry, Ltd.’s Dividends.— The directors of Henry Berry, Ltd., advise that the organisation which has been turned from a private into a public company by the sale of shares to the New Zealand Board, has declared that a 10 per cent, dividend for the year ended June 30, 1948, will be payable on Monday. May 9, share registers being closed on May 6. The directors anticipate a further dividend of 10 per cent, for the year ending June 30. 1949. will be recommended at the annual meeting to be held in September. It is also intended at •the annual meeting to nominate a New Zealand resident as an additional director. Application for official listing of the company’s shares is in process of being made.—(P.A.) Safety Glass Factory.—A factory to process glass into safety glass for the motor assembly plants of New Zealand is to be established at Lower Hutt by the 125-year-old English firm of Pilkington Bros , Ltd. It will be about 12 months before the factory begins to take shape on its two-acre site, and meantime the New Zealand representative of Pilkington Bros., Mr J. A. Pinnington, will be making a combined business and holiday trip to the United Kingdom during the next six months, in the course of which he will discuss details of the factory with his principals. There is only one plant actually manufacturing glass in New Zealand. That is at Penrose, making bottles only. Swan Brewery.—Transfer books will close from Maj’ 19 to June 1 for a preference dividend of 3d and an ordinary dividend of 6d, plus a special bonus of 2Jd a share.—(P.A.) N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency.—The directors have declared an interim dividend of 2’/ 2 per cent, for the year, ending June 30. 1949, subject to deduction of United Kingdom income tax at 9s in the pound sterling.
